meet auntie Joy

I am the Founder and Owner of Auntie Joy’s Storyhouse, creator of the Read to Rise Reading and Writing Tutoring Lab a program designed to nurture creativity and develop young children. With over 20 years of experience in education, I have dedicated my career to building strong foundations in early literacy and child development. My background includes serving as a daycare owner and director, Georgia Pre-K teacher, special education teacher, and Early Childhood Education high school instructor.

I believe that storytime is one of the most powerful moments in a child’s day—a time when children are calm, engaged, and open to learning. This belief led me to create Auntie Joy's Storyhouse, an interactive storytelling experience that brings books to life through performance, participation, and purposeful literacy instruction.

Through Auntie Joy’s Storyhouse, I strive to create spaces where children feel seen, supported, and inspired—because every child deserves the opportunity to grow into a confident reader, writer, and storyteller.
